ABOUT CHILDSPLAY PRESENTS "PETER & THE WOLF:" The duck, the bird and the cat join Peter and his grandfather to outsmart a wily wolf in this familiar cautionary tale, set to both classical and contemporary music. Prokofiev's musical themes for each of the characters are the colorful ribbons that tie the show together.
Adapted by Allison Gregory, an acclaimed playwright for both young and adult audiences, this show gives a fresh new look at a traditional Russian folktale. Allison and her husband, Steven Dietz, co-authored the popular musical adaptation of P.D. Eastman's “Go, Dog. Go!” which has been widely produced around the country. For this project she collaborated with California composer Hummie Mann who produced a lively score elaborating on themes from Prokofiev's original work.
Childsplay's founding artistic director David Saar will direct this brand new touring production of “Peter and the Wolf.” An old favorite with a brand new look, it's a charming musical introduction to theatre for the youngest of audiences.
