TEATRO LIRICO D'EUROPA In Strauss' Die Fledermaus

ABOUT DIE FLEDERMAUS: "A lighter-than-air performance... not a heavy note in the entire production, from the cast’s precise and weightless movements about the stage to the lighthearted treatment of the plot itself.” – Boston Globe Johann Strauss' witty, melodious and charmingly frivolous comedy revolves around practical jokes, faked identities, long-deliberated revenge and the power of champagne. The singing is idiomatic, the spirit infectiously jovial, the acting polished and witty. It’s an evening of fun for the most schooled opera lover, as well as those new to the art form.
ABOUT TEATRO LIRICO D'EUROPA: Teatro Lirico D’Europa was born in 1988, the brainchild of former ballet star Yves Josse and opera singer Giorgio Lalov. They toured Europe for seven years to great critical success, later setting their sights on touring the company in America. Winter 2000 saw the first major American tour, and the company has been thrilling audiences from Boston to Beaver Creek ever since. Past VPAC appearances include “La Traviata,” “La Bohème,” “Carmen,” “Tosca” and “Aida.”
